From humble beginnings and originally two cottages, Bourton Croft Cottage is built of local Cotswold stone under a traditional Cotswold stone roof and now boasts the ultimate in amenity and comfort. No expense has been spared in creating a wonderful place to stay, just 100 feet from the river that is the very 'water' in Bourton-on-the-water.
Positioned in the middle of the Oxford (33 miles), Bath (51 miles), Stratford-upon-Avon (25 miles) triangle these historical towns are each circa one hour's drive away; there is much to explore by car, but so much more by foot or cycle. Typical Cotswold towns are Burford (12 miles), Chipping Norton (13 miles), Cirencester (16 miles), Moreton-in-Marsh (8 miles) and Stow-on-the-Wold (4 miles). The Cotswold town of Chipping Campden (14 miles) is notable for being the home of the Arts and Crafts movement, founded by William Morris at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries. William Morris lived, occasionally, in Broadway Tower (13 miles), near Broadway (15 miles) a folly now in a country park.
Bourton Croft Cottage is situated in the very heart of the Cotswolds which designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1966. Its an area in south central England and contains the Cotswolds Hills, a range of rolling hills which rise from the meadows of the upper Thames to an escarpment, known as the Cotswold Edge, above the Severn Valley and Evesham Vale. The area is defined by the bedrock of Jurassic limestone which creates a type of grassland habitat rare in the UK, and which is quarried for the golden coloured Cotswold stone of which Bourton Croft Cottage is built.

Christina’s cottage is in an ideal position in the centre of Bourton-on-the-water so close to all restaurants and amenities. It is well equipped and comfortable and so cosy on a winters evening. A lovely touch was a Christmas tree lit up to greet us on our arrival! We had a lovely relaxing weekend there. Christina was always quick to reply to any emails and was very helpful. An excellent host!
Lovely House in an amazing location, perfect for exploring Bourton and the surrounding area. Close to all the restaurants and amenities of Bourton. Well equipped and very comfortable, we had a great stay over half term with our kids. The host is excellent and very welcoming and helpful.
Lovely place to stay in the heart of the village. Great host, cannot fault anything
This is a lovely cottage in which to stay. It is in a very quiet location in the centre of Bourton (you can see the ducks on the water a few yards away from the bedroom window) and it is perfect for exploring the nearby towns and villages in the Cotswolds. Everything you could need is in the Cottage - which is really well thought out and presented and Christina has put in lots of nice extra touches, including a welcome pack of bread, eggs, jam, milk etc. or in the various shops just a minute or so walk away. We had a really good time here and would highly recommend it.
The cottage is beautiful and a great space for 6 people. The cottage has everything you need and is well stocked with kitchen utensils and basics such as salt pepper herbs spices coffee tea olive oil etc, there are so many thoughtful touches throughout the cottage. The location is incredible in the most beautiful cotswold town. The free unlimited parking spaces do free up near the cottage from 5pm so there’s no need to panic about the parking. I couldn’t recommend staying here more and Christina is a brilliant host and in touch if you need anything. Thanks again!
This is a truly a 5 star experience. The house is amazing and would be happy for it to be my family home. The place is cosy and modern, beds super comfy and bathrooms are spotless. Its bang in the centre of the town and a 5 minute walk from all the best pubs and restaurants.
Had a superb stay at Christina’s cottage. A super host, quick to respond and most helpful. The cottage is so lovely and beautifully furnished, the kitchen is also extremely well stocked with plenty of glasses, plates, cooking items etc. Parking was a touch challenging (bourton is a very special popular place) but didn’t affect how much we enjoyed out stay and would thoroughly recommend to everyone.
Ah no, we are sorry on both counts, no pets and no smoking. We love dogs but we had to make a call, hence the hypo-allergenic pillows rather than pure goose down. The thing is, people that don't get a reaction to dogs have no problem in a dog free environment, but the reverse is not true.
Bourton Croft Cottage was built before the wheelchair so its not the easiest place to get around in a wheelchair, however that won't be a problem to players of wheelchair rugby and there is room inside. You are most welcome, but be warned the stairs & steps could be the issue. We do have a Hearing & Mobility Store, they can make your life easier while on holiday from the hire of a wheelchair to a suction grab rail for your bath or shower.
Yes, at this time of year Christina will, if requested, make a stunning beef casserole, especially for you and your party using the very best beef from local esteemed Butcher, Castles of Burford and season permitting home grown vegetables. This will be accompanied by her own home made bread and the wine of your choosing. In warmer months the option will be a Thai fishcake salad, that's home made fishcakes and a delicious home grown salad straight from the plot and depending on the month, the very best new potatoes. Prices on request and you can make your needs known as little as 3 days before you arrive.
In a cluster of cottages that were built 200 years before the car was invented, parking is an art form, but certainly not a challenge. There's plenty of free parking in the village and we'll share the secrets with you. Paid parking is also moderately priced, Full details will be emailed to you in your 'welcome' pack.
Certainly, be our guests and invite your guests over. Bourton Croft Cottage is a wonderful place to entertain. We are happy to recommend local food producers, farmers, growers, brewers and cheese makers, of which there are four within a 6 mile radius of the cottage. The Cotswolds is a fresh food haven and if you really want to spoil your friends we can organise a chef to come in and cook for you.
Londis is a 2 minute walk away directly over the river and is open from 7am to 9pm, 7 days a week.
